We hope you enjoy this tour and note the many ideas to reuse items as we practice the three R’s. Landscaping using edible and medicinal plants is a great way to have the plants work for you! Florida native plants are an easy way to landscape using less water and fertilizers. Perhaps you will also like to try a rain barrel, composting, and worm composting. Perhaps a maintenance free section of your yard with rocks would be to your liking. And of course, attracting birds and butterflies is an important feature for many of us. As most of us living in Brevard County realize, when it rains, it drains and pollutes our waterways. Landscaping with stormwater in mind is one more idea to consider. We appreciate the kindness when these homeowners open their gardens for us, and know you will also be in awe! Spend a fabulous Sunday in the south area of the county on May 19, 2013 touring these lovely examples of the beauty that is Brevard.
The mission of Keep Brevard Beautiful is to motivate and educate business, school, group and individual partnerships to reduce litter, recycle, landscape, and beautify for the environmental and economic benefit of Brevard County.
As the new executive director of Keep BrevardBeautiful, I know people want to live and do business in a beautiful community. Our residents and businesses are interested in cultural offerings, schools, entertainment, sports, and the environment, not only the trees-and-plants part of the environment, but the living environment. When people consider relocating here or opening a business and recruiting employees, the living environment of the community is a crucial component of their decision.
For the past 30 years, Keep Brevard Beautiful has worked tirelessly to keep our communities clean, with a focus on eradicating litter. KBB educates the citizens of our county about recycling and diminishing waste and strives to assist with attracting businesses and tourists to our lovely communities. Our goal is to cultivate an area our citizens are proud to call home and our visitors want to return to year after year.
As an affiliate of our national organization, Keep America Beautiful, we all work together to keep our communities clean, safe and vital today and tomorrow. In the months and years to come we will seek to further involve our youth in our programs. After all, they will be the ones to carry KBB's mission into the future.
