Florida Coastal Cleanup

The Florida Coastal Cleanup, sponsored in Brevard County by Florida Power and Light, the Ocean Conservancy, Boeing, Delaware North Parks and Resorts, Ocean Potion and Coca Cola and Keep Brevard Beautiful, is held every September, on the third Saturday of the month.

This cleanup effort is the only event at which volunteers are urged to record all of the items they collect. The Coastal Cleanup is part of a world-wide litter reduction effort. For more information on this event, please visit the Ocean Conservancy website. The data from the event are used to educate our community about the problems associated with marine debris and the role we play in solving those problems.

Keep Brevard Beautiful, Inc. invites beach lovers, anglers, bird watchers, surfers, school, church and civic groups, and people of all ages to participate in the Florida Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, 20 September, 2008 8:00 a.m. to Noon. People who care about the beauty and safety of our marine resources are needed!  Marine debris is UGLY and costs millions to remove from our beaches, spoil islands, and lagoon shorelines.  Materials needed for the cleanup activities, including trash bags, gloves, sunscreen, data cards and pencils, will be provided.  Volunteers may want to bring drinking water and a snack.

FREE T-shirts while supplies last!  Check-in sites are located throughout Brevard County.  We especially need boaters to assist with the spoil island clean up activity!
